✦ I’m Freya Horn ✦

I started out in the design world (falsely) believing that quirk, individuality, and even a hint of the strange and unusual should be hidden from my clients in order to be ‘successful’ in business. And while that philosophy worked for me really well on one level, it left me empty on another.

Now I’ve shifted my focus to Design Alchemy - where I conjure websites and branding that honour your unique magic and meet your needs with grace.

Website, graphic, and branding design are the bread and butter of what I’ve been doing for over 20 years. And it's obviously a creative business, fueled by intention and purpose. So, it’s no surprise that I’ve decided to fully lean into my craft and offer my services to those of you who thrive in the creative spaces.

Corporate world or otherwise, I've always placed a lot of value on bespoke design, because it’s hard to capture the spirit and energy of a business by using templates, standard layouts, and stock imagery. And I’m carrying that philosophy through in Design Alchemy.

Everything I create for you… is for you.

Nothing soulless, boring, or same-y here. Just a dedication to my craft and a sprinkle of magic to bring yours to life. I create an alchemy between analytics and art, which happens to be exactly what you need.

How this work is different from hiring a ‘regular’ Designer?

While there's a bit of magic sprinkled through everything I do, there's also some foundational work to be done.

I’ll get to know you, your business, your desires, your intentions, and then I’ll start on the creation phase using my background of analytics, user experience, and structure that works.

This is the elemental part of the work, it digs deep and it peers into every corner of what makes you.. you!

From there, depending on the scope of work required, most marketing sites come to life within a few weeks of onboarding - after which you'll have the most beautiful bespoke website or branding designed to charm your clients and speak to your spirit.

AI and my work

The work you pay for here is made by human hands - mine.
I don't use AI to produce the design work you commission unless you specifically ask me to.

Most of the imagery across this site is the work of real photographers, stock libraries, and my own hands.
A small portion begins life as AI imagery, then gets pulled apart, reworked, and rebuilt by me, because that's what I do. Very little survives in its original form.

Remember before AI, people could draw. People could design. People could write. Some of us still do.
If something here strikes you as too polished to be human, thank you. It took twenty years.
